FAMILY TIME IN THE KITCHEN

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

I hope you enjoy this article about family time as it is of the upmost importance right now and the perfect gift to any mother during quarantine.

Family time is so important, especially during quarantine when it may be all that you have. My family loves spending time together in the kitchen as we are all self proclaimed chefs. Spending time cooking in the kitchen with others has been a tradition for many that got lost in time. Let's bring it back for some quality bonding and quality food.

How our dinners normally work- my parents sit at the kitchen table and simply watch the show while my brother, sister, and I cook up a storm and use just about every dish in the house! From homemade pasta to cuban food to pierogies we don't discriminate when it comes to origin as long as its tasty and plant based. It's always a great dynamic to cook for your parents as they have grown up taking care of you. You can see the work that went into providing dinner each night and can have a better appreciation for food as well. Even if you aren't that great in the kitchen try following a simple recipe and tell your parents that you are making them dinner, they most likely will not object.

My sister (ig: @so_domestic) is an interior designer in Boston, MA with a love for making 20 ingredient, delicious plant inspired meals. She is what we call a "flexitarian" and cooks solely plant based for my mother and I but also shares love for ocean life. My favorite meals from her include her insane banana bread, mushroom cauliflower tacos, and corn chowder. Follow her instagram for some of her interior work or food photography! She tends to be the "entertainer" in the family, telling stories and making jokes as she somehow creates a delicious meal- you just might not be eating until 10pm :)

My brother (ig: @bill_dozer) is the science behind the food. He is an engineer and takes that brain power and puts it towards the chemistry of how certain foods work and loves following https://www.seriouseats.com/ for info and recipes. In the past few years he has become the ultimate sourdough maker and we just can't get enough. Homemade pasta dough from scratch, mushroom sauces, cakes, homemade graham crackers, and anything air fried or soux vide are just a few of his specialties.

Then there is me who you probably already know a bit about.

I wouldn't have our holidays any other way. Spending time with family shouldn't be about going anywhere or spending crazy amounts of money, just being with them doing something you love.

I encourage you all to get in the kitchen with your loved ones to see what they can create! Now is the time to give back to the mother's not with material items, but with the things she will remember. I guarantee you everyone loves a good home cooked meal!
